How to Find the Qibla Direction While Traveling
In a new city, let your phone update its location, check the compass away from metal, and turn the stable bearing into a visible line in the room. Marking that line makes later prayers in the same place straightforward.
Update the location after arriving
The correct bearing changes as you travel. Open Qibla Compass after the phone has established your current location, rather than relying on a screen left open from the previous city. In a hotel, standing near a window can help the phone obtain a better location while you prepare the compass check.
Once the location is current, the app calculates the direction toward the Kaaba. The compass sensor then translates that bearing into the direction your phone is facing.
Choose the right place for the reading
Hotel rooms and transport hubs contain many sources of magnetic interference. Avoid taking the reading beside elevators, steel bed frames, speakers, refrigerators, luggage with magnetic clasps, or a charging stand. In an airport, large structural metal and nearby equipment can make the marker move.
Walk to a clearer part of the room, remove magnetic accessories, hold the phone flat, and rotate slowly. Repeat the turn once. If the marker returns to the same line, you have a useful result.

Do not keep the phone in front of you throughout prayer. Once the direction is stable, select a fixed line: the side of a rug, a seam in the floor, the corner of a wall, or a point on the opposite wall. Place the prayer mat along that line.
If camera mode is available, use it to see the Qibla marker over the room. The camera does not change the calculated bearing. It makes the direction easier to connect with a physical object in front of you.
What to do outdoors
Outdoors often provides a cleaner compass environment, but parked vehicles, railings, and utility equipment can still interfere. Step into an open area and repeat the flat-phone check. If your phone cannot obtain a location, move somewhere with a clearer view of the sky and try again.
For a repeated stop such as a workplace or family home, save time by noting the established room line. Recheck after moving to a different building or city.
